Anna Kendrick in Talks for INTO THE WOODS
Here’s some news that Pitch Perfect fans knew would come someday. Anna Kendrick is currently in talks for the role of Cinderella in the movie musical Into the Woods, according to The Wrap.
If Kendrick signs on, she’ll join Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Tracey Ullman and Christine Baranski. She’ll also be one of two people in that can claim to have legit musical experience, the other being Christine Baranski who was featured in Chicago. (I wouldn’t call what Johnny and Meryl did in their respective musicals, Sweeney Todd and Mamma Mia!, legit.)
Kendrick adds a glimmer of hope to the Disney adaptation of Sondheim’s musical masterpiece, which looks to be about as successfully cast as Sweeney Todd. I mean, would it have killed them to, at the very least, get Bernadette Peters to reprise her role as the Witch here? Really?
