LONE RANGER

  • Apparently a $250 million Western comedy for a star that turned a pirate comedy into a multi-billion dollar franchise was just too high a price tag for Disney. The studio pulled the plug on Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger, which was to star Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger. (DHD)
  • Yeah, baby, yeah. Mike Myers is ready for a fourth Austin Powers film. As Hitfix puts it, he’s signed, sealed and delivered. (HitFix)
  • In other sequel news, a third Bridget Jones movie is officially in the works at Working Title Films. EW points out that last year franchise costar Colin Firth said the film would focus on Bridget and Darcy discovering they can’t have a child. (EW)
  • Documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield needs your help. The BAFTA nominee started a Kickstarter campaign to get his latest doc, Sarah Palin: You Betcha, into theaters. He has a goal of five days before the Toronto International Film Festival. (indieWIRE)
