I think the Franco / Hathaway team realized it was a sininkg ship about halfway through. He chose to save face by pretending not to give a shit. (Or maybe he really didn’t give a shit.) She chose to plow ahead and continued to seem like some random hot girl who somehow won a sweepstakes allowing her to host the Oscars. I always knew as a youngster while listening to Pretty Hate Machine that the man behind that album would some day win an Academy Award.
