Yes, Detroit needs a Robocop statue
RSSS

It’s been a week since Detroit Mayor Dave Bing replied to a tweet saying that “not any plans to erect a statue to Robocop.” The Internets, as they sometimes do with their Egyptian revolutions and whatnot, said otherwise.

And when it comes down to it, I’m pretty sure a Robocop statue will do more for Motown than all the Chrysler commercials in the world. I mean, I traveled to Detroit last summer with a group of friends just to see the Alamo Drafthouse’s Rolling Roadshow screening of Verhoeven’s masterpiece. Do you think anything would stop us from going to see Detroit raise a Robocop statue? You hear that, Mayor Bing. That’s the sound of tourism dollars coming your way.

All practicality aside, Detroit would score some major awesome points with this one. And 100 years from now, when parents walk past the statue telling their children stories of how Robocop saved Detroit from the evil Dick Jones, it will be partly because of me. Because “I funded that for a dollar.” (Of course it will mostly be because of this guy.)
