Zemeckis & Disney want to ride on a ‘Yellow Submarine’ – TFC Morning Report
Top Story: You hear that sound? It’s my heart sinking. Director Robert Zemeckis is working with Disney to secure the rights to a remake of the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine. Zemeckis, who insists on using creepy motion capture technology for just about anything these days, and Disney are hoping to get the animated film ready for 2012. The release will coincide with the opening of the Olympic games in London. (Variety)
In Other News: Warner Bros. has tapped Bill Birch to pen the script for the upcoming adaptation of the DC comic Shazam! Birch will co-write the script with DC Comics writer Geoff Johns.
There more Diva on the way. Lifetime has ordered a second 13-episode season for its hit show Drop Dead Diva. This season isn’t even over yet, and I’m already excited about the second one. (Variety)
