Alexander Payne to direct ‘The Descendants’ – TFC Morning Report
Top Story: Alexander Payne will reteam with Fox Searchlight Pictures (home of his Sideways) for an adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemming’s debut novel The Descendants. It was previously announced that Payne would direct Downsizing with Paul Giamatti and Reese Witherspoon next. Now it looks like The Descendants will be Payne’s first feature in five years instead. In Other News: Lionsgate, Paramount and Universal are circling Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass. I’m rooting for Lionsgate to nab the distribution rights, if only because that studio will probably be the least likely to require deep cuts to the “sickeningly violent” film. (THR Risky Biz)
