Top Story: Halle Berry is in talks to star in Fox and director Paul Verhoeven’s The Surrogate. The Oscar winner would play the wife looking to have a child with her husband and unfortunately not the crazy woman who will carry the baby. (THR)

Overseas, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian beat out Angels & Demons to take the top spot with an estimated $37.2 million weekend. (Variety)

Columbia Pictures has bought a pitch from director Barry Sonnenfeld and Ben David Grabinski for a reimagining of the Tom Swift adventure novels, simply titled Swift. (Variety)

Move over Garfield. Another orange cat is headed to theaters. Magic Lantern Entertainment and rights holder FitzRoy Media are set to bring Heathcliff comic strip to the big screen. (Variety)

Michael Shannon will play the male lead in the Joan Jett biopic The Runaways, which stars Kristen Stewart as Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Curry. (THR)
