Whedon-less ‘Buffy’ headed to big screen – TFC Morning Report
RSSS

Top Story: Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer film director Fran Rubel Kuzui to relaunch the Buffy franchise without the involvement of TV series creator Joss Whedon. I say “relaunch” the “franchise” only because that’s how they’re describing it. Apparently, no one told them that there isn’t a franchise without Whedon. Eh, maybe they’ll let him “executive produce.” (THR)

In Other News: There weren’t any records broken at the box office this weekend, but Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian took first place with a 4-day gross of $70 million. The Stiller comedy, combined with another solid holdover for Star Trek ($29 million and down only 47 percent), killed Terminator Salvation‘s momentum, which only drew $53.8 million for the holiday weekend. (erc BoxOffice)

Overseas, Angel & Demons dominated the box office bringing in another $60.4 million compared to the Night at the Museum sequel’s $50.1 million. (THR)
