Outrage outs gay republicans
Kirby Dick, the guy who brought you This Film is Not Yet Rated and the Academy Award nominated doc Twist of Fate, is about to make a lot of right wingers very unhappy. He’s outing gay Republicans in his new documentary Outrage, which just premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. I’m not going to mention names, I’ll leave that to the doc, but let’s just say a certain Florida governor may not be running for president in 2012.
Why make the movie and why now? Here’s what Dick recently told The Advocate:
In my opinion the gay rights struggle is the most important civil rights issue of its time in this country and it affects all Americans. When any particular group of people is denied rights, the whole country is harmed by it. I’ve become more and more appalled that the right wing has advanced their platform on the backs of gays and lesbians.
Outrage opens in limited release on May 8.
