TFC Morning Report – Monday, April 20, 2009 – 17 Again tops box office
Top Story: He still danced and played basketball, but Zac Efron’s first starring gig outside the High School Musical franchise turned out to be a hit without the singing. 17 Again topped the box office with $24.1 million , while State of Play opened in the No. 2 spot with $14.1 million. (Variety)
In Other News: Fast & Furious continued to dominate overseas with a weekend take of $36 million. The third sequel to The Fast & The Furious has already grossed more than the previous sequels and will likely beat their combined total by next weekend. (Variety)
Columbus Short will join Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana in The Losers, an action pic about a rogue black ops. (THR)
Sofia Coppola next picture, Somewhere, will take place and be shot in the Maramont hotel. This fourth film from the Oscar winner will star Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning. (Variety)
