Top Story: The Coens are set to adapt the Charles Portis Western True Grit for Paramount. This version will stay more true to the original book than did the previous adaptation in 1969. John Wayne won his only competitive acting Oscar for playing the lawman in the 1969 movie. (Variety)
In Other News: Knowing topped the domestic box office this weekend with $24.8 million while new releases I Love You, Man and Duplicity came in second and third respectively. (erc BoxOffice)
Jesse Wigutow will write a Steve McQueen biopic based on Marshall Terrill’s biography Steve McQueen: Portrait of an American Rebel. This sets up competing King of Cool films, the other of which is based on McQueen’s wife’s memoir My Husband, My Friend. (THR)
