TFC Morning Report – March 2, 2009 – Jonas Brothers not as big as Miley
Top Story: Apparently tweens sided with Miley after her breakup with Nick Jonas. While Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience took all the 3D screens away from Coraline this past weekend, the short, short picture (76 minutes) didn’t do the $30-40 million in business folks were expecting. And it was well short of the $31 million Miley pulled in last February. With just $12.7 million at the box office, the 3D Jonas boys didn’t reach out and touch nearly as many people as Madae Goes to Jail, which was tops again with $16.5 million. (DHD)
In Other News: Overseas, not-the-Best-Picture-winner The Curious Case of Benjamin Button remained atop the international box office, taking in another $13.4 million. (Variety)
Jason Bateman will reteam with his Juno director Ivan Reitman for the film Up in the Air. George Clooney also stars. (Variety)
Get out the popcorn. Maria Bello, Abigail Breslin and Samuel L. Jackson will star in the indie drama Rape: A Love Story. Harold Becker directs the film based on the Joyce Carol Oates novella. (Variety)
