I love the UK miniseries on which this political thriller is based. And that’s not just because James McAvoy is in it.  The miniseries has an All the President’s Men meets The Constant Gardener feel, which the film needs to retain if only to make up for Russell Crowe’s ridiculous hair.

Here’s hoping The Last King of Scotland director Kevin Macdonald can turn this nicely paced miniseries into a decent two-hour flick. Oh, and watch out for Affleck in this one. If all goes well, Affleck, who has the most emotional role in the film, could pull in an Oscar nod. (Is it too early to start talking Oscar 2010 yet?)
