Democrat Al Franken will be declared the winner of the tight U.S. Senate contest in Minnesota, emerging from a ballot recount with a slim margin over Republican Norm Coleman, state officials said on Sunday.
Of course, Norm Coleman, continuing his streak of unrivaled douchebaggery, will attempt to take the recount to the Minnesota State Supreme Court. Not very statesmanly there, Norm.
I wasn’t a fan of the Franken campaign, only because his nomination meant a battle for a seat that another Democrat could have taken in a walk. But the recount debacle proved that Franken’s a smart, principled fighter. He’s someone the Democrats definitely need.
