Oprah to pollute HBO
RSSS

I know HBO isn’t the same HBO that produced hits like The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, and Band of Brothers. But True Blood, John Adams, and its BBC co-productions made it feel like the pay cable channel was starting to find its voice again.

So much for that.

HBO and signed a deal with Oprah’s Harpo Films to distribute O’s made-for-TV movies and TV series. O has exec-produced hard-hitting telefilms for ABC like There Eyes Were Watching God and Mitch Albom adaptations. Not quite the productions we’ve come to expect from the cable channel that produced Angels in America and Elizabeth I.

Still, I’m willing to give you a chance, O. You just have to make movie for me: The Color Purple: The Movie Musical. I can always be bought with a little song and dance show.
