The minute’s up. Pushing Daisies is dead.
We knew it was coming. Pushing Daisies got the ax today. I guess it’s a miracle the colorful rom-com was even on the air, kind of like it was already living its second life. Even Ned can’t bring the show back now.
Too smart. Too whimsical. Too offbeat. But hey, it’s a Bryan Fuller show. Lasting a season and a half on broadcast television is a success in itself. I’ll miss Ned’s shy little smile. I’ll miss Charlotte’s spunk. I’ll miss Emerson’s curmudgeoniness. (Pretty sure that’s not a word.) But oh, Olive. I’ll miss you and your spontaneous bursting into song most of all.
If there’s good news here it’s that Fuller said he would return to NBC’s flatlining superhero drama Heroes. Fuller wrote the best single episode in the series (“Company Man“), so wouldn’t it be great if he was brought on as the new showrunner for a mid-season revamp. God knows Heroes needs it.
