‘The Hobbit’ movie is ON..with Jackson aboard
Nikki Finke posted the news on her blog today, that Peter Jackson and New Line Cinemas have settled their lawsuit and will begin production on The Hobbit. New Line and MGM will co-finance and co-distribute 2 feature films, slated for release in 2010 and 2011. Jackson isn’t directing, though. He and wife Fran Walsh will executive produce (meaning add their names to the project to appease fans).
Now, let the speculation begin on who will be the director. Raimi? Neill Blomkamp? Michael Bay? Who the hell knows at this point. But all the Ring fans can finally rejoice. The Hobbit is ON.
