Is X-FORCE Next In The X-Men Movie Franchise?
Two characters in the X-Force series, Bishop and possibly Cable, both make their film debuts in the upcoming X-Men film Days of Future Past. Now it looks like that won’t be the last time we see them on film.
According to X-MenFilms.com, Fox quietly registered the domain X-ForceMovie.com a few months ago, not unlike they did with Days of Future Past prior to that film’s announcement.
Plus, Mark Millar, who is a creative consultant on the Marvel Films, also told the site last year that Fox is sitting on some potential great franchises, including X-Force:
“You have to remember that Fox grabbed the X-Men back in the ’90s because it was the biggest franchise in the world. So X-Force or Cable or Deadpool — all these amazing characters are things we haven’t really gotten to yet. X-Force #1 was the second biggest book of all time behind Jim Lee’s X-Men #1, so there’s an immediate brand recognition to that stuff and a build in fanbase. You go to any convention in the world, and you’ll see 20 people dressed as Deadpool. In a lot of ways, these are Marvel’s coolest characters, so I want to remind people of that and build on what we already have. I think there’s a great foundation, and just from basic conversations, we’ve come up with ten movies we could do. These things cost $150 million each to make, so we have to pick and choose what we want to do.”
With so much potential for an expanded universe, an X-Force movie, that leads into both Cable and Deadpool movies, seems like a very likely scenario. And with The Wolverine set to hit theaters in just a couple weeks, Fox must be looking at their next big move in the now 13-year-old X-Men cinematic universe.
So what do you think about seeing X-Force on the big screen?
