‘Full Speed Ahead’ On BREAKING BAD Saul Goodman Spin-Off
With the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad starting in August, it’s time to start talking spin-off again! Now it sounds like Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and writer Peter Gould are ready to get moving on Saul Goodman’s own show.
Gilligan sat down for an interview with The Wrap, and had this today on the status:
It’s not a done deal yet, but it’s definitely something we’re full speed ahead on trying to get going.
Of course, we don’t yet know if Saul will survive in the end. So the question of whether this is a prequel or sequel is still up in the air:
…I have to be coy as to whether it even could be a sequel. Because you never know, when the dust settles at the end of our final eight episodes, where everybody’s gonna be and who’s gonna be left standing. I can’t even say for sure that it could be a sequel. It may be, it may not.
Now, I would normally worry about the idea of a spin-off, especially from what will go down as one of the greatest television shows in history, but Gilligan is no stranger to failed spin-offs. He was, after all, an executive producer on the ill-fated X-Files universe show The Lone Gunmen. And if a prequel results in the return of Gus, I’m all in.
