Pacific Rim‘s early trailers, well, they weren’t that great. And I’m not talking The Lone Ranger not great (which is probably because the movie sucks). I’m talking John Carter focusing on the Martians not great.

Without human context, giant robots fighting giant monsters just looks a bit hokey. Only the people who know Guillermo Del Toro had any reason to be excited based on those early previews.

Thankfully, the folks at the Warner Bros. marketing department have finally gotten their stuff together and cut a trailer that is as big on humans as it is on robots and kaiju. It might be too little too late, but I know I’ll be there opening weekend for this one.
