Jason Reitman’s YOUNG ADULT gets a poster
Jason Reitman is reteaming with Diablo Cody for Young Adult, which stars Charlize Theron as a YA lit author who returns to her hometown in an attempt to reconnect with her high school sweetheart (played by Patrick Wilson). Sounds like a Cody screenplay for sure. But the last time we sat through a film with her pop-tastic dialog things didn’t work out so well. (Remember Jennifer’s Body?)
I’m a firm believer that Cody needs Reitman to make a coherent film out of her script. Up in the Air proved that Reitman was just as responsible for Juno‘s success as Cody, who won an Oscar for the screenplay. When the pair explore contemporary American archetypes together, it works out for everyone: the director, the writer, and the audience.
