James Cameron goes for the X Prize
Sometimes I think that James Cameron just picks a challenge and goes for it. Before Titanic, I’ll bet he said, “Yeah, I can win Best Picture.” Before Avatar, he probably said, “Yeah, I can reinvent this 3D thing.” Now as James Cameron plans the sequel to Avatar, it looks like he’s going to keep his eyes on another prize: The X Prize.
Mashable is reporting (via the Daily Mail) that Cameron will film the Avatar sequel 6.8 miles underwater in an attempt to win a $10 million X-Prize. The goal: Build a manned submersible that will allow humans to return to the Challenger Deep for the first time in half a century.
If anyone can do it, Cameron can.
