Critics’ Choice Awards promo starring host Kristin Chenoweth

Confession: I have never watched the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s Critics’ Choice Awards. No, seriously. Never.

I listened to the audio one year while I working at a radio station and airing commercials during football games. (Old school, I know.) That was when I was in college. Since then I’ve just never found the show entertaining enough to watch, what with the instant updates I get from Oscar blogs. Say what you will about the Golden Globes, but at least watching that show is a good time for sure.

Fortunately, I obsessively follow Kristin Chenoweth’s Twitter (@KChenoweth). And her latest tweet informed followers that she is going to host the Critics’ Choice Awards this year.

First of all, awesome. Second of all, if they don’t have Ms. Chenoweth do an opening musical number that puts Hugh Jackman’s Oscar performance last year to shame, then I will never watch the show again. You hear that, BFCA? I’m dead serious about this.

If all goes well at the Critics’ Choice Awards, then maybe some benevolent TV producers will finally give Kristin the Carol Burnett-style variety series she deserves. (Lifetime execs, I’m looking in your direction.)

Catch the 2010 Critics’ Choice Awards on Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. on VH1.
