J-Hud to star in WINNIE
Sure, a Best Supporting Actress Oscar is nice, but it’s no Best Actress trophy. Jennifer Hudson may have her eye on the big prize, as she has signed on to star as Winnie Mandela in Winnie.
Variety reports that J-Hud will play the controversial ex-wife of former South African president Nelson Mandela. Winnie was a steadfast anti-Apartheid activist, but later in life was accused by her bodyguard of being involved in murder, and also convicted of fraud.
The film, directed by South African filmmaker Darrell J. Roodt, will begin production in May 2010.
