Lionsgate will ‘Kick-Ass’ – TFC Morning… Err… Evening Report
RSSS

Top Story: Lionsgate (thankfully) nabbed the domestic distribution rights to Kick-Ass, which sets up the Matthew Vaughn picture for a 2010 release.  Having Lionsgate behind the project is great news, especially for Kick-Ass fans. You can expect some fanfare. The studio has its cash cows (Tyler Perry movies & the Saw franchise). It has its prestige picture (Crash). Now it can take a chance on a film that no other studio could handle appropriately. (Variety)

In Other News: Mad Men scored big last night, drawing 2.8 million viewers.  That’s an all-time high for the best series on television. (THR)

District 9, a sci-fi film about an alien apartheid in South Africa, brought in $37 million dollars at the North American box office, proving that Peter Jackson’s name can sell anything to a willing public. Of course, making a great movie helps too. (erc BoxOffice)
