Top Story: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has charmed the global box office.  The film debuted with $104 million dollars, a record for the biggest worldwide opening day. It’s worth noting that no Harry Potter film has crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide. This sixth film in the franchise has a heck of a head start though, meaning Potter could finally join the elite billion dollar club. (DHD)

In Other News: Matthew Michael Carnahan will take a stab at writing the screenplay for Max Brooks’ World War Z. I’m still wondering when Brad Pitt’s Plan B will come to its senses and just turn this into a miniseries on Showtime or HBO? (Fangoria)

Ed Helms, fresh off his successful turn in The Hangover, is set to star in Miguel Arteta’s Cedar Rapids.  Alexander Payne is producing. (Variety)
