The Green Lantern casting news (sort of), but it’s not Hal Jordan
Director Martin Campbell’s wife Sol Romero has a role in The Green Lantern. At least that’s what the actress told SCI FI Wire. Romero will also appear in Campbell’s upcoming film, The Edge of Darkness, but she was more than happy to build the Green Lantern buzz:
“We’re still in the casting process,” revealed the actress at the Hollywood premiere last weekend of Disney/Pixar’s Up. “So I really can’t talk about who I’m playing yet. But I personally think the movie is going to be bigger than any other comic movies, like Spider-Man.”
“There is really going to be a lot of action and entertainment” in Green Lantern, Romero said. “I think that is what we need now: a lot of action, entertainment and happy movies where we can have a good time.”
“Bigger than any other comic movies” and “a lot of action, entertainment?” That doesn’t sound like the brooding superhero film that Warner Bros. seemed hell bent on making after The Dark Knight made $1 billion. Maybe they finally realized that not every superhero can be Batman.
