It’s Dead: CW Isn’t Moving Forward With Wonder Woman Prequel AMAZON

In a sad but not surprising move given the trouble surrounding the pilot, CW won’t be moving forward with its planned Wonder Woman origin series Amazon.

To quote CW president Mark Pedowitz:

We did not go forward with it.

Yep, it’s that simple. Kind of.

I’m sure there’s pressure from Warner Bros. to let their newly crowned Princess Diana, Gal Gadot, have some room to develop, despite that film being more than two years away. But that doesn’t mean the CW won’t take another stab at it eventually. Pedowitz again:

It all depends on the script. We were very careful with Arrow, and we’re being very careful with Flash.

More so than either of those two characters, being careful and getting Wonder Woman right is a must. She’s an A-lister, while the Green Arrow and even the Flash are B-listers. But because Amazon wasn’t in the hands of Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, the men who’ve managed to make the best live-action DC adaptation since Batman Returns, like Arrow and Flash, we’re probably better off without the show. They’re probably the only guys who could get her right.

Maybe the CW will let that trio tackle Wonder Woman someday. Until then, we can rest easy that we won’t have another bad Wonder Woman pilot on our hands.
