Bryan Singer‘s tweet announcing X-Men: Apocalypse (or whatever it may be called) left some people wondering if the director would return for the 2016 franchise entry. Or maybe I should say hoping he wouldn’t.  Either way, Vulture confirmed yesterday that Singer would in fact turn his attention to Apocalypse after finishing X-Men: Days of Future Past.

But Singer as the once and future helmer wasn’t the big news that hit the net since the announcement of what is bound to be an epic sequel. A rumor recently surfaced indicating (SPOILER ALERT) that Apocalypse would be an alien and appear in the post credit stinger at the end of Day of Future Past, invading the body of Michael Fassbender‘s Magneto.  The change, both to Apocalypse’s origin and to his entry into the X-Men universe, would be a significant departure from the mythology, and indicate that we weren’t getting Age of Apocalypse after all.

Well, now we know at least one part of that rumor isn’t true. Bryan Singer once again took to Twitter to smack down the rumor saying:

Of course, he doesn’t say anything about taking over Magneto’s body, setting up Fassbender, not a new actor, to portray a Apocalypse-possessed Magneto in the 2016 film. If this is the case, that doesn’t mean we’ll never see Apocalypse. As I said in my first post about the film, it’s hard to believe they could contain any single Apocalypse story to one movie. And with a grand plan for the X-Men Cinematic Universe in the works over at Fox, we may just be on the path to Age of Apocalypse, rather than seeing explained and executed in a single movie.

But hey, who the eff knows.
