Will Wonder Woman Appear In BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN? All Signs Point To Yes.
About a month ago, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara uttered the words that many DC fans wanted to hear: “We need to get Wonder Woman on the big screen or TV.” If the recent rumors circling the Internet are true, then WB and Zack Snyder may be gearing up to add the Amazing Amazon to the Man of Steel sequel, Batman Vs. Superman.
It all started a month ago when a casting call was put out for a female character that matched Wonder Woman’s characteristics: 25 to 35 and physically strong. It was a speculation that Warner Bros. refused to deny outright.
Once is just speculation, though. But last week Thor star Jaimie Alexander revealed that she was in talks with Warner Bros. regarding Batman Vs. Superman. Specifically, they wanted to know her opinion about Wonder Woman.
But Alexander would be a perfect Diana, almost too perfect. Still, she had this to say about the potential for WW’s DC Cinematic Universe debut:
I would love for DC to put Wonder Woman in one of their upcoming flicks, either in her own movie or Batman vs. Superman, or just something even to introduce her. Being in the comic book world, we know a lot of the same people at DC and Marvel, so we hear a lot of things, but it’s all speculation right now. But I would absolutely love that [Wonder Woman appearing in one of the upcoming films]. Thankfully and gratefully, I’m appreciative to the people who ask my opinion of the character, and that’s been pretty amazing.
Two stories make this a rumor. But a third story, now that would certainly start to ring of truth.
Which brings us to today. According to ShmoesKnow, Olga Kurylenko is testing for the role of Wonder Woman in Batman Vs. Superman.
SchmoesKnow credits a “very reliable source” for the bit of information. It doesn’t mean that Oblivion‘s Kurylenko is Wonder Woman for sure. I’m sure Warner Bros., not unlike J.J. Abrams’s Star Wars casting, is going to test every viable actress on the planet for the role. More so than Batman and Superman, getting Wonder Woman could make or break the DC Cinematic Universe, which is already off to a whobbly start.
There are a whole host of actresses that could certainly fit the part of Diana, and Kurylenk wouldn’t be my top choice (or in my top 5 for that matter). However, this certainly indicates that Warner Bros. is most likely planning to insert Wonder Woman into the DC Cinematic Universe as early as 2015. Who will actually play her? Now that is where rumor and speculation take over once again.
Who would you like to see play Wonder Woman in Batman Vs. Superman? Let me know in the comments below.
