Batfleck To Direct Africa-Based Geopolitical Thriller For Warner Bros.
While Ben Affleck is busy filming David Fincher’s adaptation of Gone Girl and prepping to play the Bat in Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman, that’s not stopping Warner Bros.’ s golden boy from directing another motion picture for the studio.
Affleck is next set to helm an Africa-based geopolitical thriller about a group of mercenaries who are hired to assassinate a warlord that is killing his own people. The untitled project, which Deadline refers to as “big-scale,” will be scripted by Will Staples. Affleck is also set to star.
Because Affleck has yet to make a bad movie, in fact you could say he’s only directed great movies, this film, whenever it comes out, will be an instant must-see. And honestly, I’m more excited for this than that Batman/Superman movie. As a director who keeps topping himself with each subsequent picture, it’ll be interesting to see if Affleck can once again make a better movie than his last. Though topping Argo is a hard proposition.
